This is workshop is TRULY at the 101 level. I created this workshop for people who do not have any education about the stock market yet, and feel confused about terms like diversification, mutual fund, 401k, capital gain, roboadvisor, etc.
We will start by defining foundational investing terms, including "investing" and "stock market." I'll offer a suggestion about how to know when you're ready to start investing. Then I'll share the 6 steps of long-term passive investing, and give you the baseline knowledge you need to take action on each of those steps:
1. Choose which type of investment account(s) you want to use
2. Choose where to open your account
3. Open the account and transfer money in
4. Use that money to buy investment asset(s)
5. Rebalance annually
6. Later, sell some of those assets, and transfer cash to your bank
I'll also share how instead of trying to achieve "ethical investing" or "socially responsible investing," I take the perspective of "harm reduction" when deciding what I want to invest in.
To keep the content at the 101 level, we will not have time to get into things like dollar cost averaging, day trading, crypto, how much to save for retirement, trusts, inheritance, investing outside the stock market, etc.
The workshop will be held over Zoom on Sunday, January 18th, at 11am ET. I expect it to last 90 minutes, but we may run over if people have a lot of questions. The recording will be available to everyone who registers.
The price is a sliding scale $10 - $50 - $100.
Important disclaimers: This workshop is purely educational, and should not be interpreted as financial or tax advice. All content in this workshop is designed for people in the US, using US dollars, investing in the US stock market.
