White supremacy & capitalism want us to feel like we're alone, like we have to prioritize money over everything else, and like we have to always make perfect money decisions on the first try. 


 We can resist that with education, intentionality, and connection. 


 My goal is not just to teach you how the money games are played, but also to help you bend the rules so that we're using our money more collectively. 


 You've always made the best decisions you could with what you had. I'm not here to judge you, shame you, or even tell you what to do. I'm here to help you gain knowledge, skills, and tools, that will allow you to use your resources more intentionally toward the life you want to be living.

Who is this for?

that white supremacy and capitalism are the problem, and you're not trying to get rich quickly or at other people's expense.

help with personal financial literacy and planning for yourself or your family. (this is not a business program)

YOU HAVE
enough money that you're not constantly scrambling to pay basic survival bills. (this program can't pull people out of poverty)

YOU'RE READY
to commit 2-4 hours per week to improving your money management, and to use a computer to do so.

Program Objectives

Weeks 1-2: Start talking about money

Build trust within your cohort  

Practice talking about money, both in the program and in your real life

Weeks 3-6: Budget for freedom, not limits

Deal with your debt and grow your savings - for a purpose 

Intentionally put money toward mutual aid & toward your joy

Set up and start using a budget system that serves you

Weeks 7-10: Property & investing

Reframe your credit score as a tool instead of a grade 

Figure out whether you want to buy a house and make a realistic plan to do so  

Understand the stock market, when to care about it, and how to get started

Weeks 11-12: Set yourself up for success

Create a more stable base for yourself to be able to weather financial emergencies  

Assess and invest in your social safety net

Set up a system that will help you stay on top of your finances for years to come

Hi, I'm River 
I got into the finance world after helping a loved one navigate credit card debt that came from her gender transition. My natural gift of a "spreadsheet brain" combined with the financial education that came from my racial & socioeconomic privilege set me up to be able to serve my community in this way. 

Since 2017, I've helped over 600 clients take control of their own money to build better lives for themselves and their communities.

What logistics do I need to know?
-We meet once a week, for 2 hours at a time, on Zoom. 
-You'll have a workbook to help you apply each topic to your own life. 
-I record all sessions and add them to our class portal along with my slides and resources, and you keep the portal even after the program ends! 
-Email me as much as you'd like for support between the live classes.
-After the program ends, you'll be invited to "ask River anything" calls, 2-3 times per year, at no additional cost. 
How do I know if I can afford this?
I'd love to help you figure it out! Book a free fit check with me, and we'll talk through your financial situation to see if paying for this class is the right fit for you. I promise to give you my honest opinion! 
When does the class meet each week?
The meeting time has not yet been determined for the Summer 2026 cohort! Register by July 24th, 2026 to participate in determining the schedule! 

I am usually able to provide 2-3 different weekly meeting times for you to choose from, and one of them will almost definitely be on a weekend day. 
What if I have to miss one or more sessions?
Most folks miss 2-3 out of the 12 sessions. I typically share the session recording, slides, and highlights within 48 hours. I encourage you to draft an email to me while you watch a recording, so that you can send me all of your questions right after you watch it! 
Can I bring my partner/sibling/friend?
Doing this program with a loved one can be immensely helpful! You'll have more of a shared language, and you'll be able to support each other both during & after the program. 

Please note that the price for this program is per person. Of course I want you to bring your new knowledge and skills back to your family, but please register each person who will be participating in the live program.
The upcoming cohort doesn't work for me. How often do you run the program?
I typically run TCYM 3 times per year: April-ish, August-ish, and January-ish. Sign up for my email newsletter if you want to stay up to date! 
What support is available after the program ends?
At the completion of each cohort, I offer free "ask River anything" calls to all alumni of the program. So if you participate in TCYM, you'll then have 2-3 chances per year to come ask me anything, at no additional cost.

I live outside the US. Can I participate in this program?
Unfortunately I would not recommend it! While budgeting and resisting capitalism are valuable in any location or currency, a large portion of what we'll talk about (insurance, buying property, investing) is US-specific.

I am considering creating a new version of TCYM that is not tied to a specific country or currency. If you're interested, please let me know! river@beintentionalfinancial.com

If you have the means to pay in full up front, and it reduces your stress to know you've paid in full, then you are always welcome to do so! 
Payment plan
I do not charge extra for payment plans! Start with a $500 deposit today, and then after we finish our budgets in week 6 of the program, you'll have multiple payment plans you can choose from, starting at $125/month over 12 months.
Reparative pricing
It is my ongoing practice, as a white person, to repair a tiny bit of the economic harm actively being done to Black and Indigenous Americans by offering my services as "pay what you want" to folks of those identities. Folks usually pay between $50 to $1000, either up front or spread over a few months. There's no rush to decide-  start with $50, and then halfway through the program, we'll check in to see if you'd like to pay more, but with no requirement to do so!
